Mario & Wario
Mario & Wario (1993) is a Japan-only Super Famicom exclusive developed by Game Freak and designed by Satoshi Tajiri, originally requiring the Super Famicom Mouse and never released on cartridge outside Japan. It reached the rest of the world for the first time in October 2025 via the Nintendo Switch Online SNES (Nintendo Classics) app. Wanda drops a bucket over Wario's head, and the player guides a blinded character (Peach, Mario, or Yoshi) to Luigi using audio and on-screen cues, since the character can't see.
Availability: Nintendo Switch Online — Super Nintendo Entertainment System app (Nintendo Classics), added worldwide in October 2025. Requires mouse input: a USB mouse on original Switch, or Joy-Con 2 Mouse Mode on Switch 2.
This guide documents the full 10-world, 100-stage structure and the finale; per-stage puzzle solutions across all 101 stages are not individually itemized.
Structure
- 10 main worlds of 10 stages each (100 stages total), plus 1 bonus EXTRA stage unlocked after World 10
- Playable characters: Peach (slow), Mario (medium), Yoshi (fast) — each must be guided to Luigi at the stage's goal
- A bonus minigame after each world (except EXTRA) where Wanda hits Wario with a hammer
- Finale: World 10's last stage ends with the playable character hijacking a plane to drop a bucket on Wario, crashing his own plane
Boss / Encounter Notes
There's no traditional boss fight — Wario himself is the running antagonist, faced only in the post-world hammer minigame and the World 10 finale.
