Moonlighting is one of the newly announced systems in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, confirmed by Square Enix as part of the updated vocation framework. PixelQuest will track confirmed announcements here and add player-tested details as hands-on validation begins.

If you are familiar with the Dragon Quest VII vocation system from the PlayStation 1 or Nintendo 3DS version, that knowledge may provide useful context — but it cannot be treated as confirmed data for the Reimagined release. Square Enix has announced updated mechanics, the new Moonlighting system, and a streamlined story. Vocation behavior may have changed in ways that are not yet known.
The following classic vocation details must be rechecked against Reimagined before any guide claim is made:
- Job progression order and how many ranks or levels exist per vocation
- Which skills belong to which vocation in Reimagined — skill lists may have changed
- Monster heart unlock conditions and which enemies drop them
- The relationship between vocation mastery and character stat growth
- Whether any vocations were cut, merged, or renamed in Reimagined
- How the classic Hybrid vocation mechanic (if present) differs from Moonlighting
- Any platform-specific differences from the 3DS version that may or may not persist
