Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels · walkthrough
World 2
Harder overworld and water. Poison still looks friendly on 8-bit. Previous and next stage links sit under each area.
World 2-1
Flagpole. More pits, more poison risk.
How to progress
- Longer overworld than 1-1. Hidden blocks can box you into a pit. Jump a suspected invisible block before a must-make leap if the gap looks unfair.
- Poison mushroom rule still applies.
- Flagpole.
Hazards that matter

World 2-2
Swim to the exit pipe. Bloobers and Cheep-Cheeps.
How to progress

- Exit pipe to flagpole. No fire in water unless you already had it — you cannot shoot underwater on NES.
- Do not confuse this with SMB 2-2’s layout. Distances differ.
Hazards that matter
- Bloobers
- Cheep-Cheeps
World 2-3
Athletic flagpole.
How to progress
- Platforms and lifts. Wind possible. Springs (including Super Springs) launch higher than a normal jump — use them, do not bounce into a pit.
- Flagpole.
- Luigi’s slip is worst on these landings.

- springs
- pits
