Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels · walkthrough
World D
Last letter world. D-4 is the end of A–D. Previous and next stage links sit under each area.
World D-1
Flagpole. World D-1.
How to progress
- Letter worlds are extra after the numbered game. FDS-style unlock: eight 8-4 clears (title-screen stars), then hold A and press Start. PixelQuest has not independently verified that combination on Nintendo Classics.
- All-Stars: A–D can follow 8-4 or 9-4 automatically. Deluxe omits A–D. Do not mix those rules.
- Play these stages only if your listing actually offers them. If NSO does not show A after 8-4, the world is not missing from this walkthrough — it is version-gated.
Hazards that matter
- Poison mushrooms
- pits
Notes
- FDS A+Start after eight stars vs All-Stars sequential vs Deluxe omitted. NSO listing not independently verified.

Castle D-4. Impostor or Bowser depending on version notes.
How to progress
- D-4 castle. Axe.
- World D-4 is the last letter castle. All-Stars may put a real Bowser here. Original-style may still use an impostor — UNKNOWN on Nintendo Classics. PixelQuest is not guessing HP.
- If your copy returns to the title, you are done. If it continues, play the next letter world.
